10th GREEN4SEA Awards Ceremony due on March the 12th!
In SAFETY4SEA‘s commitment to Environmental Excellence & Sustainable Shipping, we are pleased to announce the annual GREEN4SEA Awards for tenth consecutive year. On March the 12th, SAFETY4SEA will make public the 9 winners across 9 green categories. The process to be employed is a combination of open nomination and vote from audience and the industry panel of experts while the awards ceremony will take place at the closing of 14th GREEN4SEA Athens Forum on Wednesday, 12th of March 2025.
The award categories are:
GREEN4SEA Sustainability Award
To be awarded to an organization that promoted an ESG agenda and contributed towards sustainable shipping
The shortlisted nominees are:
- International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), for advocating for a review of the CII in collaboration with other industry associations
- International Windship Association (IWSA), for advocating for the Decade of Wind Propulsion (2021-2030)
- MacGregor, for its Carbon Calculator
- Maritime Battery Forum, for exploring the role of batteries in the maritime decarbonization
- UCL Energy Institute, for leading a world-class research group dedicated to the maritime decarbonization
GREEN4SEA Initiative Award
To be awarded to an organization or association that sparked, realised, or significantly contributed with a specific initiative towards greener shipping
The shortlisted nominees are:
- BIMCO, for launching the Ship Recycling Alliance
- ECSA, for launching the Clean Maritime Fuels Platform
- HEMEXPO, for launching the Sustainability Spotlight campaign
- Maersk Training, for its new Methanol as a Marine Fuel training program
- NatPower Marine, for developing a network of ship charging facilities
- The Nautical Institute, for its ‘Training Standard for Handling Alternative Fuels in the Maritime Sector’ publication
GREEN4SEA Technology Award
To be awarded to an organization that provided a significant technological achievement or breakthrough or significant contribution in any aspect of environmental maritime activity
The shortlisted nominees are:
- Nippon Paint Marine, for its HydroSmoothXT™
- OneLink, for its modules EngineLink, EmissionLink, and ARIVA 360
- PortXchange, for its EmissionInsider
- StormGeo, for its Strategic Power Routing solution
- Thordon Bearings Inc., for the Thordon Blue Ocean Stern Space (T-BOSS) sterntubeless ship concept
GREEN4SEA Clean Shipping Award
To be awarded to an organization that contributed towards cleaner shipping
The shortlisted nominees are:
- Anemoi Marine Technologies, for introducing Anemoi Rotor Sails
- ERMA FIRST, for its CARBON FIT
- FueLNG, for providing sustainable LNG distribution solutions
- GIT Coatings, for developing advanced marine coatings using nanotechnology
- Jotun AS, for advancing cleaner shipping with expertise in fleet efficiency
GREEN4SEA Energy Efficiency Award
To be awarded to an organization that provided a significant achievement, breakthrough or contribution in any aspect of energy efficiency in shipping
The shortlisted nominees are:
- Bound4blue, for its eSAILs® suction sail
- CM Technologies GmbH, for its PREMET X Fuel Injection Acoustic Emissions Sensor
- GNV Grandi Navi Veloci S.p.A., for playing a key role in the ferry sector’s energy transition
- Klaveness Combination Carriers, for installing the world’s largest suction sails
- METIS, for its innovative platform that optimizes energy efficiency
GREEN4SEA Tanker Operator Award
To be awarded to a ship operator of oil or chemical tankers or gas carriers that demonstrated environmental excellence and performance above average in any aspect of maritime activity
The shortlisted nominees are:
- Anglo-Eastern Ship Management, for its commitment to environmentally friendly marine fuel technology
- Arcadia Shipmanagement, for its commitment to sustainable and responsible shipping practices
- Capital Ship Management, for investing in wind propulsion, LNG and eco-friendly designs
- Columbia Group, for leading sustainable shipping through effective ESG implementation.
- Pertamina International Shipping, for committing to environmentally friendly operations
- Teekay, for its commitment to an ESG strategy
GREEN4SEA Dry Bulk Operator Award
To be awarded to a ship operator of bulk carriers or general dry cargo vessels that demonstrated environmental excellence and performance above average in any aspect of maritime activity
The shortlisted nominees are:
- Eastern Pacific Shipping, for investing in wind propulsion
- ESL Shipping, for serving the Nordic green transition
- IINO LINES, for committing to sustainability practices
- Ionic Bulk Carriers (MGT) Inc., for focusing on energy efficiency and pollution prevention
- Neptune Dry Management, for its commitment to an ESG strategy
- Star Bulk, for committing to sustainability practices
GREEN4SEA Personality Award
To be awarded to an individual that provided industry influence and contributed towards greener and sustainable shipping
GREEN4SEA Leadership Award
To be awarded to an individual that provided industry leadership and contributed towards greener shipping throughout his/her career
Awards are subject to the following procedure, terms and conditions.
Nomination and Voting Procedure:
- Notification procedure is initiated few months ahead of the event with an open invitation to the industry stakeholders to propose nominations on the web. Nominations are valid only with an online submission completing the form below and can be made by any individual involved in shipping, limited to one nomination per category per person. All nominations MUST be in English language and provide a clear indication of the reasons behind the nomination (as appropriate).
- SAFETY4SEA Editorial staff will review all nominations for validity in line with rules, terms and conditions announced and place all valid nominations to the website for the online Open Vote in line with the deadlines announced.
- For each category winner will be the nominee that has attracted the most votes by the end of the voting period. Only one vote per person per category will be allowed.
- Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony, at the closing of the 14th GREEN4SEA Athens Forum, on Wednesday 12th of March 2025, at the Lighthouse of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). More information can be found at: events.safety4sea.com/2025-green4sea-athens-forum/
Terms and Conditions:
- Nominations: 10th GREEN4SEA Virtual Awards are open for nominations till Friday, 22nd of November 2024. Valid nominations will be reviewed by the editorial staff and put to online open vote on events.safety4sea.com, supported by social media and e-mail campaigns.
- Eligibility: Only work or achievements taking place within the last 18 months will be eligible. Each nomination to meet the award description and specified entry criteria.
- Online Open Vote Procedure: Only one vote is accepted per award category. Vote will be open till 24th of January 2025.
- Award Announcement: Winners will be announced during the awards ceremony, at the closing of the 14th GREEN4SEA Athens Forum, on Wednesday 12th of March 2025, at the Lighthouse of Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).
