2024 GREEN4SEA Virtual Awards Ceremony due on May the 9th!

In SAFETY4SEA‘s commitment to Environmental Excellence & Sustainable Shipping, we are pleased to announce the annual GREEN4SEA Virtual Awards for ninth consecutive year. On May the 9th, SAFETY4SEA will make public the 8 winners across 8 green categories. The process to be employed is a combination of open nomination and vote from audience and the industry panel of experts while the presentation will take place at a dedicated special virtual event on Thursday, 9th of May 2024.

The award categories are:

GREEN4SEA Sustainability Award
To be awarded to an organization that promoted an ESG agenda and contributed towards sustainable shipping

The shortlisted nominees are:

• Columbia Shipmanagement (CSM), for committing to social responsibility
• RightShip, for its new GHG Rating
• Seaspan Corporation, for its ESG Program
• UCL Energy Institute, for leading research on maritime decarbonization
• V. Group, for its research on alternative fuels

GREEN4SEA Clean Shipping Award
To be awarded to an organization that contributed towards cleaner shipping

The shortlisted nominees are:

• Blue Sky Maritime Coalition, for its publication titled ‘Roadmap to Net-Zero Emissions’
• Greensea IQ, for its EverClean technology
• LR Maritime Decarbonisation Hub, for accelerating maritime decarbonization through partnerships and expertise
• Port of Rotterdam, for its proactive efforts in preparing for the green transition
• Yara Marine Technologies, for its broad portfolio of green shipping technologies

GREEN4SEA Initiative Award
To be awarded to an organization or association that sparked, realised, or significantly contributed with a specific initiative towards greener shipping

The shortlisted nominees are:

• Cargo Owners for Zero Emission Vessels (coZEV), for launching ZEMBA alliance
• Oceanic, for its efforts to eliminate the use of non-essential Single Use Plastic onboard
• OneLink, for its ‘’OneLink platform’’
• PTC Shipmanagement, for playing a vital role in reducing plastic waste at sea
• Safetytech Accelerator, for leading the Methane Abatement in Maritime Innovation Initiative (MAMII)

GREEN4SEA Technology Award
To be awarded to an organization that provided a significant technological achievement or breakthrough or significant contribution in any aspect of environmental maritime activity

The shortlisted nominees are:

• Anemoi Marine Technologies Ltd, for its Rotor Sail technology
• Ascenz Marorka, for its ‘Vessel Performance Optimization Platform’
• ERMA FIRST, for the ‘‘ERMA FIRST CCS System’
• MAN Energy Solutions, for developing the ‘methanol GenSet’ engine
• SRC Group, for its ‘Methanol Superstorage’
• ZeroNorth, for its multi-service platform

GREEN4SEA Tanker Operator Award
To be awarded to a ship operator of oil or chemical tankers or gas carriers that demonstrated environmental excellence and performance above average in any aspect of maritime activity

The shortlisted nominees are:

• ADNOC Logistics & Services, for its commitment to energy efficiency investment
• Avin International Ltd, for investing in energy saving technologies
• M.T.M. Ship Management Pte Ltd., for investing in biofuels as a practical and sustainable alternative
• Northern Marine, for taking action towards green shipping
• Thenamaris, leading the way in environmental practices

GREEN4SEA Dry Bulk Operator Award
To be awarded to a ship operator of bulk carriers or general dry cargo vessels that demonstrated environmental excellence and performance above average in any aspect of maritime activity

The shortlisted nominees are:

• Golden Union Shipping Company S.A., for committing to practices aligned with IMO 2050 targets
• Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Co. KG, for its leadership in promoting sustainability
• Star Bulk Management Inc, for integrating sustainability into every aspect of their operations
• Swire Bulk Pte. Ltd., for its ‘SailGreener’ program
• Synergy Marine Group, for its commitment to sustainable practices

GREEN4SEA Personality Award
To be awarded to an individual that provided industry influence and contributed towards greener and sustainable shipping

GREEN4SEA Leadership Award
To be awarded to an individual that provided industry leadership and contributed towards greener shipping throughout his/her career

Awards are subject to the following procedure, terms and conditions.

Nomination and Voting Procedure:

• Notification procedure is initiated few months ahead of the event with an open invitation to the industry stakeholders to propose nominations on the web. Nominations are valid only with an online submission completing the form below and can be made by any individual involved in shipping, limited to one nomination per category per person. All nominations MUST be in English language and provide a clear indication of the reasons behind the nomination (as appropriate).
• SAFETY4SEA Editorial staff will review all nominations for validity in line with rules, terms and conditions announced and place all valid nominations to the website for the online Open Vote in line with the deadlines announced.
• For each category winner will be the nominee that has attracted the most votes by the end of the voting period. Only one vote per person per category will be allowed.
• Awards shall be presented to winners at a dedicated special virtual event to be held on Thursday, 9th of May 2024.

Terms and Conditions:

• Nominations: 2024 GREEN4SEA Virtual Awards are open for nominations till Friday, 12th of January 2024. Valid nominations will be reviewed by the editorial staff and put to online open vote on events.safety4sea.com, supported by social media and e-mail campaigns.
• Eligibility: Only work or achievements taking place within the last 18 months will be eligible. Each nomination to meet the award description and specified entry criteria.
• Online Open Vote Procedure: Only one vote is accepted per award category. Vote will be open till 22nd of March 2024.
• Award Announcement: Awards shall be presented to winners at a dedicated special event to be held on Thursday, 9th of May 2024.
